September 25, 2025 by Shames Mountain in News

We are delighted to announce our new season pass artwork has been finalised. Veronica Walker is Terrace born and raised and we are so stoked to have this talented artist design the pass artwork for 25/26. Our membership voted from two options at the AGM and this beautiful piece of our iconic chair was chosen. Passes are available to print and pick up from the downtown office from Tuesday-Friday, 11-5pm.

Artist Bio – Veronica Walker

Raised in the scenic mountain town of Terrace, British Columbia, Veronica grew up surrounded by the raw beauty of nature—towering peaks, dense forests, and ever-changing skies. This rugged landscape shaped her early relationship with the natural world and continues to be the heart of her creative inspiration.

A pivotal move to the Kispiox Valley for a forestry position marked a transformative chapter in Veronica’s life. Immersed even more deeply in the rhythms of the wilderness, she discovered a passion for painting that allowed her to interpret and express the northern landscape in new ways.

Working primarily with light, shadow, and vibrant colour, Veronica’s artwork captures the dynamic essence of northern BC’s wilderness. Her use of bold palettes and flowing lines reflects both the subtle serenity and dramatic energy of the environment she calls home. Whether it’s the icy blues of snow-covered slopes or the vivid warmth of a sunset sky, her pieces celebrate the ever-shifting moods of nature.

Veronica’s work serves as both a personal reflection and a tribute to the landscapes that shaped her—a vibrant reminder of the wild, untamed beauty of northern British Columbia.

Inspiration for Shames Season’s Pass 25/26

By painting the iconic Shames chairlift, Veronica pays homage to a place that holds both personal significance and communal meaning—a local gem where many in the region have shared moments of solitude, exhilaration, and connection with nature. The work celebrates Shames— where the spirit of the wilderness meets the heart of the community.
