Dear Friends, . . I apologize for us staying quiet Dear Friends, .
.
I apologize for us staying quiet over the last few months since we had to abruptly shut down our beloved ski area. It was an unprecedented end to an incredible ski season. It has taken us some time to figure out our next steps moving forward. I am very pleased to be announcing the sales dates and new policies for the 2020-2021 ski season. I know many of you have questions, on what next ski season will look like and lots of rumors are circulating, frankly I still have many questions too. I can assure is that we will be skiing next winter. Our team is working alongside our industry associations on developing all the necessary strategies and safety measures to protect our staff, guest, and community. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. .

Sincerely,
Christian Theberge

March 24, 2020 . Dear Friends . As many of you alr March 24, 2020
.
Dear Friends
.
As many of you already know, the COVID-19 pandemic is growing at an alarming rate. Our governments have asked that we stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Our hospitals and care workers have requested we abstain from high risk activities to limit the pressure on our Healthcare system. Avalanche Canada has announced ending its forecasts within days and has asked people to “Please restrain backcountry activities during pandemic”. Our local emergency services are also impacted by this crisis. As such we can expect response times to be affected. .
.
The scene in our parking lot on Saturday the 21st, was not a display of our community actively participating in social distancing. From our parking camera and witness statements we could see a nearly full parking lot, full of mingling and group activity; tail gate gatherings, guests from all ends of the world, and entire families out and about like nothing was wrong. .
.
Continuous failure to adhere to our government requests will only cause stricter restrictions and increase the time for which these restrictions will be in place. As responsible business owners, crown land tenants and Canadians, WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK EVERYONE TO ABSTAIN FROM COMING TO SHAMES TO RECREATE. This pandemic is a global issue that can only be resolved if we all do our part, and take these requests seriously. .
.
Finally, due to the significant impacts of COVID-19 affecting all industries, avalanche hazards related road closures may become more frequent and for prolonged periods as we transitions from winter to a late spring snowpack. .
.
We thank you all in advance for your patience and cooperation in this matter. .
Sincerely,
MMC-Shames Mountain Team .

March 16, 2020 Dear Friends, The health and safe March 16, 2020
Dear Friends,
The health and safety of our guests and staff is our top priority and with the growing concerns surrounding COVID-19 we have decided to cease operations at MMC-Shames Mountain for the remainder of the season. This has not been an easy decision to make as we strongly believe that an active community is a healthy community.
Over the past week, we have tirelessly monitored the situation and implemented various measures to help ensure guest safety; however, this community means a lot to us, and at this time we believe we have a social responsibility to close the resort.
We are continuing to encourage everyone to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle while doing their part to reduce the impacts of COVID 19.
Please be patient as we work through all the details involved in shutting the hill down early. We will be communicating all these details as they get sorted.
Thank you for your patience and understanding; it truly has been an incredible ski season.
Sincerely,
MMC-Shames Mountain Team
