Dear friends,
As many of you are aware it’s been another tough start to winter here at MMC-Shames Mountain. Last Summer’s earth works, and water mitigation are the only reason we have been able to open thus far. Our efforts have greatly lowered our minimum snow level operating thresholds. This is the first time Shames has operated under the threshold of 50 cm of snow at base. An incredible feat when considering the previous threshold was 80cm. We are now dropping under 40 cm after another rainstorm over the last few days.
As such we have made the decision to only run the Green Carpet, and let the mountain rest and reset tomorrow, December24. The whole mountain will also be closed on Christmas Day.
The Green Carpet and Tubing will be open tomorrow with some modified hours for the base area and day lodge.
- 10am-4pm: Day Lodge Open
- Cafeteria open from 11am-2pm
- Bar open from 11am-3pm
- 11am-3pm: Green Carpet Beginner Area open – Ski/Tube with Santa!
- Tubing open from 11am-3pm
The Blue Chair and T-Bar will be closed tomorrow, December 24.
We appreciate everyone’s support through another tough start to winter and we look forward to welcoming you back to the mountain on Boxing Day.
Ski you soon
