Donation from LNG Canada ensures lift passes remain available
at Terrace, Kitimat, and Prince Rupert Public Libraries for 2023-24 season
December 14, 2023
Thanks to a generous donation of $78,000 from LNG Canada, MMC-Shames Mountain lift passes will once again be made available through a partnership between MMC-Shames Mountain and the public libraries in Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat.
Beginning December 15, 2023, just in time for MMC-Shames Mountain’s opening weekend, the Terrace Public Library, the Kitimat Public Library, and the Prince Rupert Public Library will each have four dated day passes available for every operating day for the entire 2023-2024 season at MMC-Shames Mountain. The ski area opens for the season on Saturday, December 16.
Like other items the public libraries lend, the day passes can be checked out for the day, free of charge, valid on the day they will be used. Each pass will be dated, and only good on that one day.
“This has been an incredible initiative over the last two seasons, and we are very grateful to LNG Canada for stepping up to sponsor this program that makes downhill skiing and snowboarding more accessible for families and individuals,” says Christian Theberge, General Manager for MMC-Shames Mountain. “This reduces barriers for community members to discover the excitement of skiing and snowboarding and promotes healthy living and communities.”
“Supporting this initiative increases access to outdoor recreation and gives community members an opportunity to enjoy the winter season on the slopes,” says Heather Taylor, Social Performance Manager at LNG Canada. “We are grateful to be part of this community and to call Northwestern B.C. home.”
At a time when the cost of living has increased dramatically, this program helps take the sting out of the cost of a day lift pass. Patrons should contact their respective libraries for details on how to book their lift passes.
