Thanks to a renewed partnership between My Mountain Co-op, LNG Canada and the public libraries in Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat, patrons across the region will continue to have the ability to access  MMC-Shames Mountain to enjoy a day of skiing or snowboarding, just like patrons can check out books. For the fourth season MMC-Shames Mountain and the public libraries of Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat are joining together, with some positive changes to further reduce the barrier of entry to the world of skiing and snowboarding. For the 2024/2025 winter season, each public library will have four vouchers available for each operational day, these vouchers can be exchanged, at the Ticket Office at the ski hill, for ONE of the following:

  • Discovery Lessons available only at 10am and 1pm (2-hour lesson – If only one person is in the lesson, lesson will be a maximum of one hour), OR
  • One Full Set of Rentals, OR
  • One Full Mountain Lift Ticket

For more information, visit your Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat Libraries. We look forward to you joining us on the slopes.

Press Release

LNG Canada Public Library Snowsports Program: Ticket, Rental or Discovery Lesson at Terrace, Kitimat, and Prince Rupert Public Libraries for 2024-25 season

November 4th, 2024,

Following the success of the 2023-24 Public Library Ticket Program, where a staggering 92% of tickets were checked out; LNG Canada, is once again sponsoring the initiative. This season, LNG Canada challenged us to improve their community social capital investment, to find ways attract new skiers as well as subsidize existing ones.

On top of sponsoring the library program, LNG Canada will also be title sponsors for our Good Foot Lesson camps, Multicultural Weekend (Jan 3-4) and Pride and Diversity Weekend (February 22-23), strengthening their commitment making snowsports accessible to everyone.

To make the library program reach more members of our community, the “Library Lift Tickets”, will now be a Voucher that can be redeemed for either:

  • 1 Full Day Lift Ticket
  • Or 1 Full Day Rental
  • Or 1 Discovery Ski or Snowboard Lesson

Beginning December 6th, just in time for MMC-Shames Mountain’s opening weekend, the Terrace Public Library, the Kitimat Public Library, and the Prince Rupert Public Library will each have four dated vouchers available for every operating day for the entire 2024-2025 season at MMC-Shames Mountain. The ski area opens for the season on Saturday, December 7th.

Like other items the public libraries lend, the Vouchers can be checked out for the day, free of charge. Each voucher will be dated and is only good on that one day.

“In the past, the program made skiing more accessible to existing skiers. By adding lessons and rentals as option, the Library Snowsports Program will now also be a path to discovering the sports.” – Christian Theberge, General Manager, MMC-Shames Mountain

“Supporting our local ski hill is about more than just skiing; it’s about creating opportunities for everyone to experience the joy and thrill of winter sports. Together, we can foster a love for the mountains and ensure that all members of our community can experience our hidden gem” – Tyler Perry, LNG Canada Maintenance & Turnaround Manager

Patrons should contact their respective libraries for details on how to check out their LNG Canada Public Library Snowsports Voucher.
