Dear Co-op Membership,
It’s hard to believe that two weeks have already passed since we drew the curtains shut on the 2020-2021 operating season. What a season it has been. It is no secret that this was likely one of the most challenging ski seasons we have ever or will ever experience.
It started with the uncertainty of Covid-19’s true implications on our business (this following some substantial investments that were needed even to try and operate). Then, the snow button got stuck on the “more” setting. The season ensued with more major events, pivots, and surprises then we have seen in the past decade. Our team rose up to the challenge and worked together to offer a safe and healthy experience to our region. We realized very early on that this winter was about more than just skiing, we offered an experience that was essential to the mental health of so many, the chance do something out of the house with your kids, to be social again, to see people, to gather stories for the work weeks’ coffee breaks and so much more.
All of this was only possible because we had your support. We thank you all from the bottom of our heart. You followed our rules, you politely wore your face covering if you were reminded to put it on, helped us remind others, were patient and understanding through the various changes we encountered, and just about every one of you left us feeling like our efforts were truly appreciated. Mother Nature was also very kind to us, we avoided rain just about all season, and only had a few cold weather or access road closures. We closed with a 4 meter + base and cumulative snowfall of well over 15 meters.
We are now shifting into putting this ski season to sleep, dotting the “i’s” and crossing the “t’s” on our summer project, and we are also starting to plan for next winter. There will be many opportunities to volunteer this summer. Be it through helping with the Backcountry Enhancement Project, helping to construct the cover for our conveyor lift, as well as a number of the usual tasks (putting chairs on and off, brushing, painting, cleaning, ect…)
Thanks again to all of you, have a great summer and please take care,
Sincerely,
Christian Theberge
