Dear Friends,

Deciding when the conditions at Shames will be safe enough to reopen to the public has been a difficult decision. We will be REOPENING SHAMES MOUNTAIN ON SATURDAY JANUARY 6th, 2024.

The incredible water mitigation/drainage work done by our operations teams on New Year’s Eve has really helped. The 10 cm or so of snow and colder temperatures we received from January 1st through January 2nd was nice, but just a dusting on a melt-freeze layer. To deliver the best and safest possible product ahead of an expected busy Shames Multicultural Weekend sponsored by Terrace Tourism and Rolly Works, we will remain closed both Thursday January 4th and Friday January 5th. We are expecting some snow on both Thursday and Friday, with colder temperature and sunshine forecasted for Saturday the 6th, we are expecting a great weekend.

For those of you who intend to still come for a ski tour or dog walk, please familiarise yourself with our new Uphill and Dog Policies for the 2023-24 ski season.
