March 9th and 10th 2024 – Kermodei Banked Slalom: Snowboard & Ski race inspired by our neighbors at Hudson Bay Mountain. Saturday will be for snowboards, and on Sunday it will be for skis.

Hello Racers!
We hope everyone is excited for the 1st Annual Kermodei Banked Slalom! The response to the event has been great with lots of people coming from out of town. Huge thanks to the volunteers who have gotten us to this point. Our course is built, and the snow has returned. Things are looking good for race weekend!

Here is some information about Race Day:
Please note that helmets are MANDATORY for all racers!
If you are traveling from out of town, season pass holders from other resorts receive 50% off lift tickets, one free ticket if you hill had to close early. All racers will receive a $20 gift card from My Mountain Coop to use for lift tickets, meals, merchandise or anything else sold at Shames. If you are from out of town and need a place to stay, check out our ski and stay options for hotel/lift ticket combo deals available. Overnight Parking is also an option, please familiarize yourself with our Overnight Parking Policies.
There will be a CASH ONLY (or tickets bought from the Ticket Office/Bar) BBQ and Beer Garden in T-bar Land next to the course.
SCHEDULE:
8:30-9:30am: Racer Check-In at the lodge.
Come check-in and receive your race package and racer number.
Important! It takes approximately 16 minutes to get from the bottom chair to top of the T-Bar!!!
10:00am: MANDATORY Racer Meeting, Top of Course, on Southpaw.
Racers will gather for a meeting and overview of the day’s schedule and rules. Racers will learn any important details about the course and be able to have questions answered before the event begins. All racers must be present at the Racers Meeting. All racers will get one course inspection run, and 2 timed runs with the single fastest run counting. No times will be given or posted until the awards party at the conclusion of the event.
10:15am: Course Inspection
Course Inspection, Southpaw, Top T. Racers will receive ONE course inspection lap. This is not a full speed run, no passing! The course consists of gated turns winding down the left hand side of the run. Course inspection will be run in order from the youngest age categories to oldest. After your course inspection if you have any questions or concerns regarding the course please bring them to race officials attention immediately. After course inspection please return directly back to the top of course for your first timed run.
11:00 am: Run 1
Run 1. Racers will get their first of 2 timed runs. Runs will go in order starting with the youngest racers first. A start list will be posted at the top of the course. It is your responsibility to make sure you are at the top of the course for your run. If you miss your start time you will not be given a time for that run and there will not be an opportunity for a re-run.
1:00pm: Run 2
Second timed run down the course running in reverse order of run 1 within each category (still starting with the youngest category first)
3:30pm: Course Teardown
We are hoping to be wrapped up at 3:30pm and we hope some racers will be able to help tear down the course.
4:00pm: Awards, Lodge Cafeteria
Awards will be given, and results posted from the day’s race. There will be trophies/prizes awarded for the top 3 finishers in each category, and we will be giving all other prizes given to us by sponsors as draw prizes! We encourage everyone to stay for the awards and prizes.
