Supporting Access, Inclusion, and Cultural Engagement on the Slopes
2025-12-02 — LNG Canada is proud to announce a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Shames Mountain, designed to enhance kids access to Snowsports and to foster greater community engagement and inclusion across all our programming. The total amount to the 3-year social capital investment is $160,000.
Empowering Youth: Kids Ski Free Programme
Thanks to LNG Canada’s generous support, our Kids Ski Free programme will continue to provide hundreds of local children with the opportunity to experience skiing at no cost each season. This initiative ensures that finances are never a barrier for young people to enjoy healthy outdoor activity and learn new skills on the slopes.

Expanding Ski Education: Goodfoot and Mini-Rippers Camps
LNG Canada’s sponsorship enables us to grow our Goodfoot and Mini-Rippers ski camps, which welcome young skiers of all abilities to develop confidence, technique, and a lifelong love for winter sports. These camps focus on skill-building, mentorship, and fun, helping participants take their first steps—or runs—on the mountain.
Celebrating Community: Multicultural and Pride & Diversity Weekends
The multi-year partnership also supports our hallmark Multicultural Weekend, an annual event celebrating the vibrant diversity of our community through music, food, and cultural activities on the slopes. Likewise, Pride and Diversity Weekend will receive vital funding to continue providing a safe, welcoming space for 2SLGTBQ+ individuals and allies to gather, connect, and celebrate identity and inclusion in sport.
Honouring Indigenous Heritage: Annual Cultural Engagement Contribution
LNG Canada’s annual contribution dedicated to Indigenous cultural engagement underscores our shared commitment to truth, reconciliation, and celebration of First Nations traditions. This support will enable ongoing collaborations with Indigenous leaders and artists, foster cultural education for all guests, and reduce barriers to indigenous participation.
A Lasting Partnership for Positive Change
“We are thrilled to partner with LNG Canada on these impactful initiatives,” said ski area General Manager Christian Theberge. “LNG Canada’s multi-year commitment allows us to expand access, celebrate diversity, and deepen our engagement with Indigenous communities, making skiing more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.”
LNG Canada’s continuing support reflects their dedication to building healthy, inclusive communities and investing in the next generation of skiers and community leaders.
