Denis Rowse Retro Day

In Memory of Mr. Denis Rowse, MMC-Shames Mountain is honoured to celebrate one of its biggest supporters on Saturday, December 21st, 2024. This event is dedicated to his legacy and contributions to the mountain community.
9.00am – 3:30am – regular lift operations
10.00am-3.30pm – Toonie tubing
2.00pm – 5:30pm- Face painting with Moneca Tanner
2:30pm – Rip n Run (party lap) on AOT
3.00pm – 6.00pm – DJ Alvalanche in the lodge
4:30pm – Retro costume contest winner announced
3:30pm-7.00pm – night skiing and tubing (Toonie $2 tubing)
6:30pm – last call for kitchen and bar
7.00pm- Rental shop and day lodge close
A note about Denis from his daughter, Hilary Cassady:
“Dad’s favourite drink was scotch but he could put back just about anything especially rum and eggnog. He skiied until he was 93 and his favourite run was AOT. He only stopped skiing cuz he broke his leg while trying to show off for the young girls at the chalet (going off a jump).”
MMC-Shames Mountain General Manager, Christian Theberge:
“We are planning that this snowfall will be enough to get us fully open on Saturday the 21st. Just in time for Denis Rowse Retro day; where we will celebrate the late Denis Rowse, who skied at Shames until his early-90s on classic stainless steel Volant Skis.”
