Festival Overview

Celebrate nature and community at this family-friendly event, held during the closing weekend of the Terrace Riverboat Days Festival. Whether you’re a seasoned berry picker or trying it for the first time, the festival offers something for everyone.

Shames Mountain Blueberry Jam!

New this year! Shames Mountain Blueberry Jam! We will buy your blueberries (for resort credit) and use those harvested berries to make some delicious blueberry jam.

Colouring Station
Located inside the Day Lodge, open 10:00am until close

BBQ by Donation
Next to the Blue Arches, from 11:30am to 3:00pm

Chairlift Rides
The Blue Chair will run from 11:00 AM to 3:30pm

  • One-way only: All riders must walk down
  • Walking down without picking berries takes ~30 minutes

Safety & Participation Guidelines

  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult
  • Minimum age to walk down the mountain: 5 years old
  • No rides down the chairlift
  • All chairlift riders MUST be able to walk down unaided
  • Wear appropriate footwear for the chairlift and hiking down
  • Upper mountain is wilderness—no facilities available
  • Bring suitable clothing and gear
  • Dogs are welcome but are not able to ride the chair. Dogs must be on leash until tower 3. Please ensure your dog has good recall.
  • Bring water for the upper mountain. Water will be available for purchase in the base area.

Additional Notes

  • Buckets for berry picking will be provided by donation
  • Festival hosted by the Shames Mountain Ski and Snowboard Club
  • All ages welcome

Hosted at the picturesque Shames Mountain, located in the unceded territory of the Tsimshian people near Terrace, BC, the festival will feature an information and weighing station run by the Shames Mountain Ski Club, ensuring participants have everything they need for an enjoyable berry-picking experience. Whether you are a seasoned picker or new to the activity, berry picking is open to all, and buckets will be provided by donation.

In addition to the joyful task of gathering blueberries, attendees can look forward to a mouthwatering BBQ, available by donation. It is a perfect opportunity to savor delicious food while supporting the community.

Returning this summer will be the opportunity to ride our chairlift up and pick berries on the way down (walking down without picking berries takes approximately 30 minutes). Please note that the chairlift is weather dependent and last minute changes can occur.

Join us for a day filled with fun, food, and festivities at the 2026 Blueberry Festival. It is an event that celebrates the beauty of nature, the joy of community, and the bounty of the land. Do not miss this unique experience, where memories are made and traditions are cherished.
