Face Coverings

  • Presently, face coverings are not required at MMC-Shames Mountain. We however retain the right to ask our guests to wear a face covering when instructed to do so by Provincial and Federal Health Authorities. In this situation face coverings would be required in all indoor spaces, base area, all parking lots, lift lines and while riding the lifts.

Transportation

  • We will not be running the Shames Express weekend shuttle this winter.

Ticketing

  • Our Daily Ticket Cap System will see a set number of day tickets available for each day of operation.  To purchase a Daily Cap Ticket visit our Town Office, or our Online Resort Store https://mymountaincoop.resortstore.net/en/ you will need to pick a specific day for the Daily Cap Ticket to be used.  Discounted tickets such as Half Days, One Ride, Parent & Tot, and Indigenous Adventure Pass will only be available at the Shames Mountain Ticket Office, if Daily Ticket Cap has not been met.

Contact Tracing

  • In the event of contact tracing being initiated, Shames Mountain will follow all Northern Health and provincial guidelines at the time.

Social Distancing

  • There is currently no restrictions in place for our indoor spaces related to the COVID pandemic. We reserve the right to implement social distancing measures if and when they are required. If social distancing is required there will be reduced capacities in all of our indoor spaces.

Daylodge Access

  • There is currently no restrictions in place for our indoor spaces related to the COVID pandemic.
  • Face coverings are recommended in all indoor spaces, base area, all parking lots, lift lines and while riding the lifts.
  • Flow patterns will be used.
  • The upstairs and downstairs of our daylodge will be controlled as if they were two separate buildings.

Lodge Traffic

  • The downstairs will be restricted to in and out access (purchasing tickets, going to bathroom, diaper changing, locker access, etc.)
  • To access the entire upstairs (Panhandler Cafe, Galloway’s Mountain Bar & the outside Patio), a Vaccination Passport will be required, along with ID.
  • We are recommending that when possible guests get ready for skiing/boarding in their vehicles.

Non-Skiing Guests

  • With limited inside space capacities, we ask that non-skiing guests plan to spend as little time in the daylodge as possible.
  • We encourage our guests to picnic outside, bring pop up tents to set up in a designated area in the area and tailgate lunches.

Locker Room Access

  • Face coverings are recommended in all indoor spaces, base area, all parking lots, lift lines and while riding the lifts.
  • Locker room areas will remain open.  Locker room access will be restricted to “in and out” traffic only.
  • Face coverings are recommended in lift lines and while riding the lifts.
  • Guests will be loaded on the lifts within their “bubble/cohort”.
  • Young guests and those who require help loading the lifts will continue to be assisted by our operators. It is recommended that our operators wear personal protective equipment to ensure both guest and staff safety.
  • Face coverings are recommended in all indoor spaces, base area, all parking lots, lift lines and while riding the lifts.
  • We highly encourage pre-purchasing lift tickets, rentals, and lessons online, over the phone, or in person at our town office.
    • Pre-purchased rentals will be preset and awaiting pickup at our designated pickup location.
    • We will provide a link to a google form for the collection of personal information required to preset skis, this will be sent by email at time of purchase.
    • Pre-Booked lessons will have a designated time and meeting place.
  • We are encouraging a “cashless” experience, please use debit or credit cards where possible.
  • Rentals will be cleaned and sanitized between each use.
  • Private, and semi-privates, group and discovery lessons are still available though we will be requiring groups remain within their “bubble/cohorts”.
  • School groups will continue to be welcomed, albeit with reduced capacity.

  • Panhandlers Café,  Galloways Mountain Bar & the outside Patio all require a Vaccination Passport plus ID to be shown before entering.
  • We encourage our guests to picnic outside, bring pop up tents to set up in a designated area in the area and tailgate lunches.
  • Outdoor grab and to-go food services will be available at Hungry Hut, our outside Kiosk.
  • MMC-Shames Mountain is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, guests, and our Northwestern communities. We recognize this is a fluid situation and will update and adapt our procedures to meet and exceed any recommendations from Worksafe BC and provincial health authorities.

  • All staff, contractors, and volunteers will be trained on new protocols, procedures, and enhanced hygiene practices.
  • Our supervisors and staff will be cross trained to work in multiple departments. This will give us the depth to react to any situations that may occur.
  • Each individual department has its own safety plan, policies, and procedures, built around our existing plans and the Canada West Ski Area Association Covid-19 Ski Area Winter Operations Considerations document, recommendations from Northern Health, and requirements from Worksafe BC.
  • High touch surfaces and restrooms will be frequently cleaned and disinfected.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be provided throughout the resort.
